I actually managed to write Morning Pages yesterday, but G was needing to get on the computer to do college stuff, which is something I dare not discourage in any way, so I wrote – longhand – in my real book journal. I don’t have gobs of time this morning, but it is not too bad. Mainly because it is warm outside (!) so I will not have to thaw all the water bottles which means feeding buns takes a lot less time. That’s the good news. Bad news: the cold is a’comin’. Straight from Minnesota which as I understand is very cold right now. I just hope the cold doesn’t delay Kent’s flight home.
More good news/bad news (I tend to think in these terms – try hard to focus on the good news, but that bad news creeps in): Maybe I should start with anticipating bad news then temper it with good news, that might be healthier.
Bad news: my time alone in the house is ending. Good news: Kent will be safe and sound home here.
Bad news: students turn in their final lab work today and I must start grading it. Good news: it is not a huge project and shouldn’t be too odious to grade.
Bad news: I must get everything ready for my class in January (meaning for example, that I must finally fix my wheel that broke), good news: I will get that wheel fixed and I do enjoy the class.
Bad news: the house is a disaster and needs tidying, good news?: what the heck is good about that???????
Bad news: the clementines that the girls bought in North Carolina are starting to mold and smell terrible; good news: the bunnies will very much appreciate them, I just have to cut them up and bring them out.
Bad news: my back is really hurting and has been for months; good news: I have an appointment with BJ and I hope that will help.
Bad news: I don’t know if I have enough of the yarn I just started knitting into a lace mobias strip; good news: the pattern I invented for it seems to be working well (except more slightly bad news: doing the purl 2 together part is really hard, I may need to re-modify).
I’m sick of this bad/good news. My weekend was in many ways quite lovely, with lots of free feeling time. Of course I did not get done all I “should “ have. But I did start in on paying bills (see, even without the gimmick I think this way) and soon I will get the checks entered into Quicken and the accounts balanced. Today is the last lecture. I will go in for that, stay to start grading the papers, meet with some students in the afternoon, then get home not too late. What should I do for supper? G has been wanting food lately, but the reality is that anything I cook she does not like anyway. Hmm. Maybe I’ll make some potatoes since we have lots from the winter share, and more will be coming. We also have gobs of cabbage. So maybe roast potatoes and stir fry cabbage. Or maybe some sort of cabbage casserole bake, although G hates casserole. Maybe some sort of scalloped potatoes that has cabbage, too. It will mean going shopping as I have no cheese.
