SUMMER!!!!

8:11 am
So here I am. Summer. Meaning grades are in, work is done, except for a meeting sometime next week. Now the big push and focus is the fair, coming up in less than 2 weeks, really in just one week. Am I ready? No. of course not. will I be ready? Well, I guess I’ll have to be. Am I looking forward to it? Well, in a way. I do feel a bit burdened and worried. I will try to focus on what will be fun. G has promised to do bunnies the whole weekend, for which I will pay her, so I will be able to focus on everything else like workshops. I am teaching 2 koolaid dyeing ones, as well as the needle felting. Thank goodness B will be doing the 2 weaving ones. Oh and I’ll be doing the spin/knit contests. I’ve never done them and I’m not so sure I know how. I’m thinking of getting hold of a guy who usually “vends”  who at least in the past always participated, for some tips. Or I’ll try to get hold of an old Woolgathers member, it would help if I could think of her last name…. since she used to run them years ago.
Being done with work is so freeing, but of course is a mixed blessing because it also means I am really on my own pretty much all day long. Be careful what you wish for….. Mostly that’s a good thing, but it can get lonely. But then, once I get started on things, the loneliness goes away and I am just involved. Like carding. I can’t wait until I can spread out all the dyed (and un) stuff I have shoved away in the sun room to figure out what I want to card up. Trouble is it is raining and seems to be slated to do that for the foreseeable future, so it is hard to spread out. I could put some effort into tidying the sun room so I could spread out in there better. Right now it is full of sticks in various stages of being warped for the stick weaving.  I’ll bring them to the fairgrounds on Monday and leave them there.  Of course that is not all that’s taking up lots of room. I seem to have acquired quite a collection of drum carders. I have my regular one, the one I bought in NY last fall, Nyssa’s, and now the unfinished one that a friend gave me. All very fine except that they take up quite a bit of room. I need to find some storage space for them.
I’m sitting here munching on these shredded oats cereals that G bought. They are not like your typical shredded wheat, since they are very sweet. Very tasty, but I do not need to be scarfing them down. I did realize last night, though, that munching on cereal as a snack is not a bad idea, better than potato chips.
So plans for the day: continue to work on stick warping and making the needle felting blank pads; errands – to webs for needle felting supplies, get a gel bike seat cover (I biked yesterday and ow! my butt is so sore!); fix my fair tent; ply the angora I spun; clean out some cages and get ready to move babies to new cages; fill out application for RiverFest. Is that enough of a ToDo list? I know there are other crucial things that I’ll think of. It worked out so well to have supper all made and ready to go by early in the day yesterday. We’re having burritos today, so it is harder to do much ahead.
Ok, time to get on it.
