6:40 am
So here’s
the deal. I did a good bit of spinning yesterday – plied the 2 bobbins and
started another, and I did the whole bobbin the day before. And now my shoulder
is hurting and what really hurts is my left index finger. Sucks. Maybe today I will
focus more on some plucking which also needs to happen. Fabio needs it, and
others could be cleaned up. The big babies need their baby coats cut off.
I took
photos of bunnies yesterday which took a lot of time. And I posted them to
Ravelry to advertise who I have for sale. And posted an ad on Craigslist. We’ll
see what comes of all that. I now need to make up a poster, get it printed and
put that around. There are fewer and fewer places to put posters these days, so
I won’t make many.
What else
did I do yesterday? Oh well, the car was in the shop and I had to go pick it up
so at 3:45 I finally biked which was actually quite lovely. A quick fast ride
that felt good. As one of the trip members said, the trouble with biking as
exercise is that it takes time. You have to do a pretty solid ride to really
get in the exercise, compared with just a half hour or so of a run. But who the
hell wants to run? All fine at work when I can watch MTV but to run here,
around the neighborhood or through the apartments, that is dull. I need to get
my ass to the university this morning to check into whether G is still eligible
for the tuition waver. I could add in some distance – maybe ride to the other
end of the bike trail, up through town, then to the U.
Yesterday
I started out with the spinning (after writing, stretching, meditating and
buns) and I ended up feeling really tired. So I just came in and lay down and
it really helped. I only lay here about 15 minutes and then I was quite
energetic and immediately made a phone call which I had been putting off. Much easier
to do those odious things when one has energy. Lots of odious things still to
do. I have not managed to even touch all the sorting, bill paying, emails that
need attending. Yuckola. It seems like I have spent a lot of time on loading
and unloading the dishwasher, and hanging and taking in laundry. Those totally
never ending tasks. I cooked up some black beans yesterday. They actually
turned out quite well for a change – the big secret: I added a bouillon cube,
which meant they were super salty. Hmmm. I will have to see if I can figure out
anything else to make them tasty w/out being just salty. On the way home from
getting the car I stopped at Whole Foods to pick up salsa. I hunted through
what they had to find one with low salt, and finally just took the in-house
stuff that said it was mild. It was not. Wow it was in fact super spicy and I cannot
eat it. So I am just plain going to take it back and get a refund. Not sure
when, we’ll see. What about supper tonight? Finish the beans? Maybe I will
refry them. I also have lots of cooked pasta. I could sauté that with the red
pepper I bought and some onion and even a bit of the kale from the share. And have
it with a huge salad. So far so good on the salad greens. Maybe we will even
make our way through them. I told our renter to help himself to them.
Started
As I Lay Dying which is of course
rather dreary. Last night I got on line and read some stuff about it – It was
some kind of web site designed to help high school students with difficult
novels. So pretty basic, but at least it got me thinking about the style of the
book and main themes and things rather than just the tedium of it. I find the
stream of consciousness thing affected. Ok, big deal when he wrote it, but I am
impatient with it. Just tell the damn story! Which is silly as the story is
hardly the point. Well I will get through it. One thing I briefly read said
that Absalom/Absalom is his best
novel, of course one I have not read, so maybe I will. I think I even have it. And
hold on to the Baldwin books for later.
