SALT!!!

8 am
Tomorrow we will lose day light savings, so mornings will be lighter. Good thing. I am up, but I do not want to do anything for the dog, so if he starts sounding like he needs breakfast, I will have to go get K up. At least now with him getting a midnight snack he does not get up so early to eat.
Hmm I was hearing this odd crunching and I thought Tigger had gotten into a bag of something. But I think it is G crunching on something upstairs. Some really good breakfast item like chips.
Speaking of chips, and thus salty things, I am in a panic. I need salt pills for Monday, and now I am finding that I cannot get them. I went to cvs last night after we ate at Johnny’s (which was nice) and they do not carry them, they must special order and they would be in Monday afternoon – TOO LATE! So then we came home and I spent the rest of the evening calling everywhere I could think of. No place that was open has them : walmart, target, Walgreens, stop and shop…. Other places were not open. Some of those are open today, so I will try them this morning: baystate pharmacy, moriartys in Florence, a place in Northampton. Unfortunately the medical supply place in Holyoke is not open tomorrow. I am getting rather anxious about it. I will work on it today, then if that bombs out I will rethink. Some options -  they get the salt by taking some pills and then eating some pretzels (I think 20 big pretzels has an equivalent amount of salt. Or they take some pills and also have a cup of bouillon which has about 2.5 g salt. EMS has some sort of rehydration salts, but I’m not sure what else is in it, or how much salt is in it. Not a great situation, but it will have to do. And then I must also somehow grade the reflections/conferences I had with each student. It is so amorphous, and besides that we were not all that clear on what we expected, so it will be hard to put a number on that. Partly I can judge it on whether or not they have done much work.
What the hell else? A bunch of the family is up at the farm this weekend closing. I feel like a bit of a shirker not helping. And, what I feel like even more of a shirker about is not helping with either the senate or pres race. Oh brother. I got on the email list and now I get all kinds of messages asking for help with phoning or canvassing. Well, maybe we could do something this weekend or next week. I guess, what with G moving out Sunday, I’ll have a car at my disposal, so I could go someplace Tuesday to help, like with polls.
K is now up and he stated – it is 8 and Bay State is open. Ok, I guess I have to finish here and get back to calling. We had also thought about going for a hike, and depending on where I may have to go to get salt, that might determine where we hike. He just suggested Mt Toby which would work if we must go to Greenfield, but not so much if I must go to Springfield or Holyoke (or Hartford, heaven forbid).
I finished the boucle I was making and knit up a hat with it that came out great. I started more of it, the angora is spun up (soft brown/gray from Bathsheba) and the core (merino roving from Australia that Gwen gave me years ago) is spun. Now I must do the boucle ply and then the thread over-ply. It would be good to get a bunch of that done for the Hartsbrook fair. And I need to finish the scarf I am making. Unfortunately I made it too wide so it is going to take > 1 ounce.
