9 am
I had been thinking rather haphazardly that I might send in an application to sell stuff at the SPA in Maine in Feb, but I just checked and the application has to arrive by Sept 1, not be postmarked then, so I guess that solves that issue. Many issues get solved by just waiting until it is too late to do anything……
I had just sat down to write when *sniff sniff* I caught a whiff of something awful and realized the dog had rolled in something while I was doing bunnies. Not enough for him to gorge on bunny poops, leading to gas issues, but he also has to adorn himself with revolting substances. So that meant a quick bath for him just now. And as soon as that was done, the fellow from CET (the Center for Ecological Technology) arrived to measure for insulation which they will install with a big state grant covering a large portion. Next week someone will come to do a sealant meaning I guess that they will seal any air leaks in the places where the insulation will go. For the sealing to happen I had to cut 12” square openings in the short walls in the upstairs bedrooms (we have a cape, and the upstairs rooms have short walls and sloped ceilings if that makes sense). I did that last night, well, one more to go. It was pretty tedious, but kind of fun too. Now I will have to figure out how I am going to get those openings closed back up when all is finished. There is actually quite a bit of unused space in those areas, and once they are insulated I wonder if they could actually be used for a bit of storage…. Meaning I would make the little squares I cut out be removable, make them little doors. I’ll have to think about that.
Our “leader” from the Webs spinning group sent a message about someone who wants 5# of wool spun up. I answered and asked about the quality of the wool. But even if it is really primo and lovely and easy to spin, we’re still talking like an hour an ounce, and I’m not so sure anyone would want to pay 16 X 10 x 5 =1600/2 = $800 to get their wool spun. I think they’d better send it off to Green Mountain or somewhere. Of course, once washed it will be < 5 #, and they could send it off to be carded. Still, I wouldn’t want to do it for < $10 an hour. Speaking of which I need to get going on the dog hair I have to spin.
Right now I am really hungry. What will the rest of the day bring? Oh, for one thing I must type up the minutes from last night’s 350 meeting. It was interesting and I’m glad the dd came. Maybe a bit of an education for her – how frustrating meetings of this kind can be. We will meet again next Monday. Not sure how it will all turn out. There were all kinds of interesting ideas thrown about, and a couple of sourpusses that didn’t seem to like anything suggested.
Ok, time to eat since I won’t meditate with this CET guy here.
