Spinning Class and More Skeleton Work

9:30 am
Spin class went well last night. As always it was fun. Of course it went way late and I did not get home until 11:15 so I decided to let myself sleep in. IF I were going to do it again I think I might make it 2 hour classes: 7-9 instead since 3 hours feels too long. But as far as I know, this is the last JTerm, so I guess I won’t be teaching it again, at least at work. I do have a couple other options – LSSE and the person in Greenfield(?) who has a studio and lets people run classes. I might try those. I had 7 students, and the 8th arrived around 9 (just in from CA!). It was a fine number. I think it would have been better to start them with paired spinning earlier. That seems to work well and I think it is good for them to get really comfortable with that before they try the park and spin. As usual, a few seemed to pick it up very quickly, while others are still struggling. Next week I’ll try to focus on those students to see what is going wrong. Of course the biggest hassle was getting all the stuff packed up and unloaded there. But next week I won’t have to worry about that. Then the third week I’ll have to pack it all back up again. And in the packing up I could not find one of my hand cards. Hmmmm I hope it turns up.
The other thing I did yesterday was position Blizzard using pins and Styrofoam to now dry him in the oven. Once dry we will put him with the beetle culture and see what happens. It was really tricky getting him in the correct position. I used a rabbit skeleton drawing from on-line to help me.

On to today. As soon as I am done with all my usual stuff – meditate, feed buns, eat – I must drive out to the fairgrounds in Cummington to measure spaces. I did get a 100 ft tape from work which will make things easier. I think I’ll draw out a map and somehow scan it. I sure hope we can reach the fire chief and get this fire code thing figured out. I wonder if this will be the thing that finally kills the fair. Also, I heard back from the spin/knit contest person who cannot do the contests this year. So contests and the info booth are two big gaps. We really need some new blood and energy to replace those who are bowing out in various ways. And we have not found anyone to take over vendors. That’s a big job, but it does come with a stipend which should help.
Nothing else to talk about and I’m feeling like I need to get moving.
