Blog Hopping

7:40 am
Well at least it’s not 8:40 which it really is, since Daylight Savings has just ended. What an intensely lazy bum I am as always. I’ve just been reading random blogs. I sat down with my morning psillium (mmmmm, what a treat) to check email, might as well while I’m sucking the stuff down, but there were only 2 and not interesting – one from College Board about the SAT which G has taken and did fine on, the other from the NETA digest (New England Textile Arts) which wasn’t that interesting, so rather than turning it off, finishing the drink and moving on, I decided to check blogs. TIME WASTE!! And one thing I do like to do, once I have glanced at a few on my favorites bar of the browser, is to do the random blog button. It’s often pretty interesting. Though, they must have some sort of system that the system uses, because it is not truly random. The worst is, when I am looking at a fiber (thus crafty) blog and I get connected to the stamp or scrapbooking folks. Those go on and on and on. For some reason this time, I got connected first to farmy folks which was pretty interesting, then for some reason I got sent to a peace corps volunteer blog. This woman has just returned from Ecuador and was writing about it. It was interesting and sweet and made me think of L since I think peace corps would be a great thing for her to do. But maybe that is just projection and what I am really thinking is that I should have done that. Well I didn’t. I suppose I still could, I have heard of people in their 50’s doing such a thing, but what would I do with the bunnies???? And I like being at home, so why would I want to do that?
Yesterday was truly lovely day. I just realized that part of why I switched gears in my thinking (and, these being Morning Pages, I am just scribbling down whatever I think with very little editing) is that K just got up and came in. So I changed the Zoom size to 75% so that he can’t read what I am writing over my shoulder (heaven forbid!). How ridiculous. It’s not like I am writing anything so amazing, secretive or even personal, still I hate feeling like someone is reading over my shoulder. Pretty silly considering that I will post most of this on a very public blog! Not that I need to worry about thousands reading it or anything.
Well, as I was saying, yesterday was lovely. I spun a bunch of the gray stuff, and I even managed to start to tidy up outside. A lot of the dyeing stuff is wet, so I laid it out to dry since today is supposed to be sunny, I should be able to bring it in later today. Now that solar dyeing is not really a happening thing (for one thing I left the cardboard “oven” out in the rain…) I have come up with a new idea. We have the woodstove going most of the time, so I have put a pot with water and 2 jars of dye and fiber on the stove. I think it will remain at a decent simmer temperature for the day, and that should work fine. And if I don’t just dump the water down the stove, but instead leave it to cool on the counter I won’t even be wasting any heat. I decided to do the same thing with a pot of black beans that I decided to cook. We’ll see how long it takes this way. I have a chicken from the meat CSA thawing in the fridge, I could try cooking it this way too, kind of like using a crock pot. But I was planning to roast it, so I don’t know. I think I’d rather have roast chicken than stewed.
