Moth Balls

10:10 am
It is late but that is because we had to take the car to the tire place to get the studded tires put on. And then I fed buns. And wrote an Etsy letter to someone who bought some yarn, but it smelled too much of mothballs for her. MY BAD!! I’m trying not to feel too terrible/guilty/ashamed about it. It’s all part of the Etsy learning curve. Yes, I do use mothballs and I know some folks probably think that is awful. I don’t love it, but I sure as hell don’t want all my masses of fiber to be destroyed by moths as I know can happen. The good part is that, with most everything in the sun room, it gets a hard freeze from Dec-Feb each year which helps. Maybe this year I will get the mothballs out of all the skeins/knit stuff, and air them out before the freeze. I think if I leave the mothballs in with the unspun wool/angora it will be ok because that will get plenty aired out as it is carded, etc and it gets washed and aired more once it is spun. I think I will also look into alternative moth repellents, herbal type stuff, for the finished items.
This weekend is the nothing planned time. And no grading which is fabulous. I do have the stacks and stacks of papers on the 2 kitchen tables to deal with, which will not be fun. Especially the insurance stuff. I will have to think about breaking it down into manageable bites and doing one at a time. The other (or one of the other) biggie is the trashed yard. Of course the leaves need to be dealt with, it is supposed to be reasonably sunny today and tomorrow, so maybe by latish tomorrow I can deal with that. But besides leaves there is just all the STUFF around in the yard. And amazingly soon there will be SNOW (isn’t it funny how it always seems like such a surprise?) and having all that stuff (the camp stoves and dye pots for example) put away would be very helpful.
There was the possibility of going to the Big E fiber event with my friend, but I truly do not want to go. Sometimes I read other folk’s blogs about all the fiber events and stores etc they go to (especially the folks who design knitting patterns and so that is their job) and I realize that I am glad that I don’t do that. It’s ok in small doses. And I like selling at a fair well enough (not my favorite thing to do), but to do only and just that… Well, I am glad that I have my Bio job since it provides plenty of other kinds of stimulation.
I did already eat breakfast, but perhaps I’ll meditate anyway, what good discipline.
