Today
is going to be a bunch more food putting up. And I am fast running out of
freezer space. Should I buy a small chest freezer? What I really need to do is
cook the 2 huge pieces of meat from the meat share – I have a pork butt roast
and a beef roast. Kent has to get a new dehumidifier from Sears, maybe I should
see what they have in terms of chest freezers. Ok I just spent 20 minutes
looking at them on line. Looks like to get a reasonably sized energy star rated
one would be about $500 which is too much in my mind. It’s just that our little
freezer is pretty much full. I’m thinking of roasting some eggplants today,
then freezing them to use for baba ganoush later. I wonder if the roasted stuff
could then be dehydrated. Don’t see why not, but today I am also going to start
some rabbit jerky. I am currently freezing a bit that I finished boning
yesterday, not to freeze all the way but just enough to make it easy to slice
up small. Then I will marinate it and make the jerky. I’ve done it before but
without the marinating and it was not that good. I am hoping some nice tamari
will make it tasty.
Finished
the 9 skeins of dark fawn, now I will wash then and hang them out to dry. And
then start the dark gray. Tomorrow my sister is coming for a knitting lesson,
that should be fun. Then there is Thursday, then I leave for Maine. Of course
I’ll be back either Saturday night or Sunday. I think I will also look at the
soap making video again and see if I can gather materials needed. Then maybe on
Friday I could actually do it. I already fed the buns, and looked to see if I
need another pallet. I could probably get by on the ones I have. I truly need
to mow the back lawn today, I guess after that I can start in on moving compost
around.
Well, I
have not written much, but I am feeling like I ought to get going. I wasted a
lot of time looking at those sites about freezers.
