Just Stuff

7:30 am
Just watched an interesting NOVA about a guy working on a technique to sequester CO2. The part that I found most interesting was that it was featured on the front page of the Comcast web site. And it made no bones about global warming and its cause. What does this say about the mass of the American public finally getting it through their heads that Global Warming/Climate Change/Climate Crisis are realities and we had sure as hell better do something about them? I find it heartening. And that is a good thing, since most of the news these days is anything but. In fact I must be kind of careful during the day to not overdo listening to the news which can depress me pretty badly.
The major nerve-wracking event of today is that the AC officer is due to come inspect. I wish I knew what she was going to look for specifically. I don’t think it will be terrible. She is not out to shut down my operation, but I am still nervous about it. I need to move some rabbits around, probably take some babies and put them in separate cages next to moms that I can move the mom in and out until they are fully weaned. One big litter I can put together in the big cage. And I need to take apart the set up that K made with the really long cage because it is not yet actually functional and I don’t want her thinking that I would use it the way it is. Yesterday I bought a bit more lumber so now I have what I need for the next garden bed and later today I could build that, once the inspection thing is done. Or maybe get things all set up to work on it while I wait for her.
Yesterday got all used up in a blur. I managed to do all I planned to before going in to work. Then I went in, and met with the prof for about 2 hours. After that I went to my office to type some stuff up and OOOPPS found I could not for the life of me remember the new password for my computer. Damn! So I called to get someone from LITS to come reset it. Then I went to Human Resources to set up the direct deposit into G’s account so she can get the better Checking Account. But they weren’t there until 1:30. So I decided I’d better go to Blanchard to get something to eat, as I had not brought anything and it was getting late. Only, Blanchard was not open since instead they are doing this BBQ thing on Tuesdays. So I had to get that, which was marginally edible. Well, I ate it and went back to HR (they had all been over at the BBQ) and got that set up which is a good thing. And throughout the day I was meanwhile figuring out how to text (!) I’m a real expert by now. After HR I just plain left, still need to write up notes from the meeting. I went straight to a friend’s where G was visiting her daughter, and dragged her off to pick up the bus and drive it to get checked out by a body work guy. He did not sound very positive about the rust and I think K had better start thinking in terms of eventually the bus not being around. That will be a hard one for him. Especially as Tigger is also getting older and eventually will not be around. I suppose it is similar for him as the girls leaving is for me, so I should be patient and understanding with him about it. My first reaction is to be cynical and roll my eyes – oh brother, who cares? But I should be gentler with him, since he is at least trying to be understanding with me about how hard I am taking this upcoming “empty nest.”
Anyway, that all pretty much took the day. I did get over to Leader after all that to get the rest of the wood. And I managed to meditate and even wrote a poem.
