A Day to Spin?

9:30 am
Did my run first today, and fed the buns, of which there are many. Let’s see: 10 adults, 4 “teens,” and 7 litters of babes ranging in number from 2 (Crystal) to 8 (Bathsheba). Bathsheba’s bunch is nearly weaned. I decided to experiment and try raising them on grass/greens without grain or pellets. We’ll see how that goes. When I feed Bathsheba I put her in a different cage. Pretty soon I’ll just leave her in there all the time, though for now I think it is good for them to still nurse when she’ll let them. I have several empty cages which is good because I’ll sure be needing them as these babes get bigger. I have the two that need to be sanitized, and one more that will be empty soon enough - has 2 of the teens now.
I want to start today with spinning the rest of the set of green skeins I’ve been working on. After that, one more set then I’m done with that batch. I think maybe I’ll do the last part as one big bobbin and knit a scarf from it, so not make the individual 1 oz skeins. Won’t save a lot of time but a bit. Then I’ll do the light green stuff, and then I can come up with what I want to do next. I have a basket full of brushed fawn angora that I want to card up first then spin. And I should do a bunch of plain angora to get ready for the next fair (not till Apple Harvest in Sept). I should spin up some angora and use it to try knitting up more of those stuffed rabbits. They are very cute, though the one I sold I should have marked for more $ since what I got for it really didn’t reflect the time taken.
Tomorrow L and I will drive up to the farm. I need to take care of that hay in the garage and she said she’d come along. I don’t know if anyone else will be there. Poor G is getting mightily bored with hanging around the house, because of her sprained ankle. She’ll go into work at Breuggers today, and I hope she can go in to the CSA farm to work on Friday.
Something weird here. Some days I start writing (using Word on this desktop computer) and it automatically finishes the names of days. Some days it does not. How weird is that? And how do I get it to do it all the time? I’ve tried looking in the help area for word, but I can’t find much. There may be some way to use “fields” but I don’t really know how to do that. I suppose at some point I could spend more time and really play with it. Usually it is just curiously weird, but I don’t actually feel like spending much time.
Something else on my mind (small things can end up taking a lot of attention….): my left thumb joint really hurts. It feels like a burning in the joint and it really bugs me. Maybe I should go see BJ to ask her about it. Is it the start of arthritis? It’s not a dull ache as much as a pretty sharp burn. And it does interfere with spinning since when I spin with the Saxony wheel, that is the hand I “pinch” with. I think it is less of an issue with the upright wheel. Ok, time to start spinning.
