I have
not checked my email for 3 days and to be honest I am afraid to. Don’t want to
see any emails from anyone asking me to do anything. Today I will tackle the
fair stuff and then, once I have a handle on that, I will tackle email, in part
to send messages out about setting up meetings. I feel ok about doing all that.
I did go through the kitchen stack (papers) on Sunday, and though I didn’t deal
with any of it, I at least looked through. A big part of it is just stuff to
file, so I will do that today. Oh, I did pay bills, which is after all a fairly
big deal, and even bigger, I entered checks and reconciled. I should be able to
reconcile June now, too. The big thing left there is to split all the credit
card bills.
Yesterday’s
big accomplishment was to butcher 4 rabbits. They still need to be cut up and
frozen, but I removed all the scent glands which is crucial. I well knew about
the glands under the tail, and had read about more under the front legs but had
never found them. Well this time I was able to see those, too (much smaller)
and removed all. And shortly after, I marinated 2 legs, then slow grilled and
they were delicious! So very tender, in fact, so tender and juicy that K thought
they were undercooked and microwaved his. Mine was fabulous. Not sure if that
is because it was so soon after butchering. This afternoon I am going to L’s
for a ladies’ pool gathering and I may just see if she would like me to bring
half a rabbit to put on the grill. It would be interesting to see if that came
out as good. It all also meant that I could move the 4 white babies out of
their crowded cages and into the big cage. They seem to be ok with being back
together. And none are showing signs of Pasteurella. One of the group I did
yesterday showed the nodules meaning he had it. I just have to find out better
how to tell before butchering. Hard if they sneeze only really rarely.
I did
more of the blue yarn yesterday and will continue that again today (after
feeding buns and washing dishes, and probably putting in a laundry). It should
be a perfect day to hang laundry out so I’ll do that too. And I put 3 more
hides out to dry. Best to let them dry in the shade or overnight. I’ll have to
move them in a bit before the sun hits them.
I actually
managed, on Sunday, in anticipation of First Person, to write more of the 90
Kings Grant piece I started for G. To be honest I don’t really like writing it.
I just don’t really like going back there. I would rather leave it all behind
and move on, not think about my childhood. I just remembered that I think I wrote
some other piece about the house. I remember writing it while at Three Mile. I’ll
need to find it and add it in. I suppose I ought to really keep going with it. Another
project. I’ve been taking drugs and so
sleeping pretty well. That will stop as soon as the congestion that chokes me
up at night ends.
