Lovely lovely
Tuesday except that I must go in to work all day today. No class, so I will
spend the entire day messing with the respiration stuff for lab next week. Lab yesterday
went pretty well. It was fun anyway, though too rushed. It took them longer
than I expected (should have expected that…) to work out and then gather data
from the BIOPAC set-up. Maybe I can adjust things for the Thursday lab.
I took
all the skins (except the new ones from that recent batch) out of their baths
and am drying them and they are coming out quite well, at least a good number of them are. I think
one of the big secrets is to make sure they are really thoroughly tanned. My understanding
is that you cannot over tan them, so better to leave them in the bath for a
good long time. There are a couple that may not be completely good. Those seem
more likely to turn out stiff. There is one in particular that I might just
stick back in.
So besides
that, and work being really hard as I had anticipated, what else? Friday there
is a Fiber Day at Shelburne Falls farmers market. If I can get a good handle on
lab stuff I think I will go over after lecture. If the weather seems decent I’ll
bring a table with a sample of stuff to sell. But really the idea is to spin
and hand out flyers about my class. Speaking of which I should check again to
see if anyone has signed up. Nope. Nobody. Hmmm. Maybe this won’t work. Oh well.
Not as if I’ll be especially sad to have one less thing to do in October. I expect
the grading will start getting bad around then and then it will get way way
worse when they do their independent experiments. Still, I have been putting a
good bit of effort into advertising my class and it has obviously not yielded
anything. Discouraging.
What else?
I need to get food, as in suppers, under control. Need to get back to writing
up a meal plan for the week. I’ve been getting home so late and I am so tired. It
would be best if supper were somehow automatic. I have no idea what I’ll cook tonight. Maybe just
sauté some cabbage. When G comes home and cooks up all her farm veggies they
smell so yummy. It is silly, I should just follow her example and not care if K
does not like having just vegetables.
