Well
that was a hell of a week. Really just yesterday. And mostly just the last part
of it at work. I spent a chunk of time doing really what was minor revisions to
the lab manual for next week, but then couldn’t get it mailed to the prof (it
is a huge pdf and that is a problem). I spent just as much time futsing with it
and trying trying to get it to work one way and another. I figured I could use
ELLA somehow, but ELLA was down and has been on and off for at least a week.
They are working on it, I really hope it is resolved soon. I did finally manage
to send it off 3 different ways after I got home. But I have not heard anything
at all from the prof. Well, she got it or didn’t, I am no longer going to think
about it. I also tried (after all that frustration when I was feeling none too
energetic for more problems) to work on the respirometry stuff, which is going
to be a huge nightmare. I didn’t get very far, so that will be the main focus
of next week, all the time in between lecture, lab and by then I will have
grading to start in on. I sure ended the
day feeling pretty grumpy and dissatisfied.
I would
love to have the entire 2 days of this weekend to do nothing for anybody, to do
just what I feel like doing and when I feel like doing it. But there are ToDos
of course. One biggie is that I need to start in on the rental room. He
defended his dissertation Thursday which is fabulous. Last night he left for
Boston where he is going to look for a place to live, and he hopes to move next
week. He sure as heck better also have enough time to clean bc his room is a
disaster. Meanwhile, we found someone last night to rent it starting Oct 1. The
thing I need to do is finally repair those walls from when they guys came and
insulated. It will be a pain in the ass and I’m not sure exactly how I will do
it, but I had better get started. Groom needs it, too. If all goes well, I
guess I can have time next weekend to really clean, if he is out by then.
Because the last weekend in September I will be at the Apple Harvest all day.
Speaking
of Apple Harvest, or rather my booth, or spinning, or whatever, Thursday
evening I spent at the downtown block party spinning near the band set up and
handing out flyers about my class. It is pretty much the same thing I did last
Saturday at the farmers market/furniture sale. It’s not at all a bad thing,
just sit there spinning and talking to whomever comes by. Nice way to see
people, too. I have handed out a lot of flyers, but I just looked at the lsse
page and no one has yet signed up for the class. I need to do a big email
sending the info to everyone I know, just in case. And put flyers up here and
there. Not sure what else I can do. They will sign up or not. I will teach it
or not. Of course, teaching it will be a stretch, what with work being so hard
these days. Not as if I need anything else to work on.
Other
todo - The rabbit cages still need roofs put on. First thing of all – and this
is good, I certainly am not complaining – I must send off a scarf and rabbit bc
someone actually bought them from ETSY! I first have to find them, then wrap
them up nice and send them off. Trip to the PO.
Part of
what made the evening spinning exciting was that K brought Tigger, who then had
diarrhea all over my wheel bag. So then the rest of the time until we left he
was dealing with trying to clean him up. We had arrived home from work pretty
late (I got a ride home from K) around 6 to find the box of powdered milk all
chewed up and spread around the kitchen floor. These days of 7am – 6 pm are too
long for him to be home alone, waiting for his supper. Anyway, I assume that is
what led to the diarrhea. I still need to clean the bag, another ToDo. K had to
spend the evening when we got home washing Tigger, then setting up barriers to
keep him in the kitchen just in case. He has been ok since then. I need to be
better about keeping him on his leash so that he does not get into bunny poops.
Last
night after such a long day I suggested we get Mom’s for supper and get a
movie. We did and the movie we got was Extremely
Loud and Incredibly Close. It was
odd and kind of disturbing, not exactly the thing, but well, we watched anyway.
