Socks for ME and THE HOBBIT

8 am
I intend to have a very restful day today, albeit restfully grading, because tonight at midnight we go to THE HOBBIT. Wooo Hooo. Now before that, I must go to Cummington to the Select Board meeting which will hardly be a big hoot, then when that is finished I will come home and join G who will be waiting in line with her friend at Cinemark. I don’t know how the line situation will be, or if it is silly to be there at 8 pm (I’ll arrive at 9:30) for 4 hours before the movie. Maybe they’ll go check it out, and if no one is there, they can do something else for a while and return. I bet that by the time I get there at 9:30 a line will have formed. So we shall see. I really don’t know if I will love the movie or not. It will be kind of surreal to be back in that reality (or unreality…).
I started a pair of socks yesterday for ME! I have the 3-ply angora/wool/alpaca that I spun up a couple of years ago, and since I have quite a bit of it I wanted to knit something up, thinking I would do a hat for sale. But the truth is, it is not all that soft. It is kind of coarse. So I decided I would do socks and make them for me. I do have a fair number of handknit socks, but they are from long ago and most have holes in them and so need repair. So this will be nice to have a new pair. I have gotten as far as the instep more or less which is where I need to start the heel. I will try the short rows version. Not sure if I really am at the correct place for it, but I figure I can do the heel and if it is too short/long I can re-do. Kind of exciting to be back to making socks, it has been a long time. And I’m quite pleased that I am already quite a ways along.
What else? Well, the grading is moving along. I am close to done with the Monday lab urine graphs. Then I must plow through the Thursday graphs, then come the case studies. I think I will just blast through those. I think they are only 5 points, so I will not add lots of comments, in fact virtually none, but just give them a grade. I’ll still have to come up with my own kind of rubric so I have an idea of what I am looking for in them.
What else? I guess I’ll have to come up with something for supper today. Well I think there is still the beef stir-fry I made. I can have that.  I just looked over and noticed the felted square I knitted up a while ago that I still need to sew together and add a zipper to make a bag for this lovely computer. That should be a nice project.
