SOLSTICE
TODAY! This is a year that I am really grateful that as of now the days will
gradually be getting longer. Not sure why but the darkness has been getting to
me this year. Tomorrow neighbors across the street are having a solstice party,
so that should be reasonably fun. And tonight K and I are going to Johnny’s for
supper.
I am
not going in today. Met with the prof yesterday and she liked my suggestions
for changing the labs. I wrote the ideas up, now I still have plenty to do in
terms of organizing the things I wrote for lab prep and ordering, and all the
grading stuff. And the room itself is in chaos, so that will take up most of my
January time. I swear this year I will tell the others to just decide which
days we teach and tell me. Keep me out of it, she and the others can decide. I refuse
to be part of hours of discussion about it as happened last year.
It is a
very dull dreary day today. Not sure if it is cold enough that I will need to
bring waters out. It doesn’t look it. I’ll do that soon. Yesterday I came home
early and spun up another 3 ounces, that needs to be plied today. And maybe I’ll
even start the next 3 ounces of the “black” angora. Then I can put together
another bunch like that to build the skeins of angora back up. I am thinking I will
set the table back up downstairs so I can card, as I did last year. Of course
it means moving some stuff as the futon is set up down there. Or I could put it
with the loom and move some of the boxes of fabric. I finished another wool
rug; the idea was to finish so that a friend could come over and weave one out
of fabric she’s had sitting around. So I don’t want to start another until I find
out where she is at. It would be nice in January to finish all the rugs and
take them off. It will, I am afraid, barely make a dent in the fabric, even though
I went through it when we moved it from the other garage and got rid of a lot. I
suppose I’ll have to go through it again. Put together bits that I will use for
rugs and get rid of the rest. So anyway, I could set the table up there.
I suppose
the other thing I had better do would be to find someone who can do the
ceilings downstairs. Because any kind of setting things up down there awaits getting
that done. And I am realizing that really we will never do it ourselves. It is
too complicated of a job. I suppose I could tackle it, but you know what, I don’t
want to. So there. I would rather make things and get ready for fairs in the
spring/summer. Fiber Twist which is called something else will be in April this
year. I could look into the NH fair, and I definitely should get myself into
the NE fiber festival at the big E. I wish there were more in the summer. I will
do the Big Bro Big Sis one, but I will not do the Family Center one. And I think
I will see if I can get into the Garlic Festival fair. So really, I’ll just
have to make stuff all summer.
Ok. Time
to get dressed and feed buns
