Scarf and Haiti

8 am
I finished the pink scarf last night! It was a bit of a haul, I had to spin up another 2 half-ounce bobbins, which I did over the past couple of days, then last night I plied them and knit the final bit on the scarf that I mostly knit during the drive to NC. And I knew I had to finish it last night because I needed to wash it and let it dry before the fair tomorrow. It is already nearly dry, thanks to having a wood stove! It will not be as fluffy as it will get eventually. If it were completely dry and I could wear it to work today that would be the best.
I know there are things that I thought about wishing I had during the Hartsbrook fair, that I can’t remember. I will be bringing more fabric for tablecloths, and I will bring the stand for the photo display. And I MUST remember to bring a paper punch, or else punch a bunch of my labels, since I know there are some things – well the scarf and the 2 mobias strips I just finished – that are not yet labeled and priced.
Man, for some reason my fingers are incredibly slow this morning. They just do not want to hit the correct keys for typing. My brain is kind of slow too. Maybe it comes of going to bed late (11:30 – really late for me!), or of being cold (the wood stove is just getting cranked back up).  Maybe I will take a shower and get my breakfast and finish writing once I am more together.
Well, I do feel slightly more awake. Bunny waters are thawing in the sink, and soon I will need to bring them out and feed the beasties and then scoot off to work. K leaves straight from work to this conference, then he comes back home very briefly on Sunday before he heads off to Haiti. But L wants to go to MHC vespers Sunday evening, so I think we will miss him. We’ll talk by phone before he leaves. I think he’s looking forward to the big adventure. I hope it turns out well, and is not too discouraging in terms of witnessing corruption in the whole aid system there. He’s bringing thousands of dollars worth of medicine (cholera meds, antimalarial meds, prenatal vitamins) and is very much hoping it goes to people in real need and doesn’t somehow end up in the hands of the wealthier folk who have the power. Well, it will be interesting to see (through his eyes).
